Iraq, the end has finally come

'Ol Obama did what he said he planned to do, the removal of US forces from Iraq. Now comes the complex task of bringing all the troops & equipment back home to the states. The war w/ Iraq cost the US trillions of dollars. Now w/ that bagage gone, perhaps the goverment will be better focused w/ the needs of its own countrymen. With all these troops coming home, can the Armed Forces supplement their needs, or are they just going to set them loose in a work force that itself is struggling? The war was justified, although no WMD's were found, we did in fact get rid of that pathetic dictator Saddam. I do feel that it was overdrawn as far as the length of time we spent there. Perhaps were regrouping in preperation of the latest threats to world peace in reference to Iran's attempt to become a nuclear power, & just today I read about China launching its 1st aircraft carrier. Yes, Its best we regroup & prepare for the next potential threat that, it seems, is becoming a very real, common occurance.

To Interrobang-- 1st & foremost, you were right as far as the cost of the war, it didnt cost us trillions of dollars but, as you specified, billions. The info that was aquired off the net was inaccurate. Yes, I was off @ 100%.

In answer to yr question of my knowing any Muslims, yes, I've had severel in my dept when I was a superviser for this major distribution center located outside of Baltimore, Maryland. Hardworking, dependable, quality oriented, & fiercly loyal, they were among the 1st I'd choose for special tasks &/or projects. They were always in compitetion w/ the Mexican "Temps" we also had in our staff. I did have trouble w/ a few of them, mainly the young ones whom had just finished school & were new to the work force. Im friends w/ a couple of them to this day. They dont display any fanatical action(s), pretty much stay to themselves, & have in fact expressed dismay & concern in relation to the events that took place on 9/11.

Well its a shame but a lot of us westerners see muslims as fanatical. They only need to be directed where to direct their anger. Its the west at the moment...

I understand where your coming from Tim, personnaly I think N. Korea is the biggest threat w/ Iran equally as much of a threat. Hell maybe more as the Asian's seem to be little more level headed than those radical Muslims. Bin Ladin, Saddam, & Gadaffi are finally out of the picture & Russia no longer really poses a major threat to world peace. Its like one step forward, ten back! As far as Iraq being justified, right or wrong, its a done deal w/ the removal/execution of a dictator, & a country setting itself up to be a democracy ( i believe thats what the plan is). Regardless, both our great nations lost our precious warriors to the rectums that praise Allah. I cant deny the fact that China has got me concerened as they seem to be keeping a low profile, kinda observing the events unfolding. They are a threat in just the sheer magnitude of their population alone. China did show dismay when N. Korea recently had a brief conflict w/ S. Korea while we were (NATO) was indulging in war games in what/where was it the S. China sea? To some it all up mate, I's thinkin something, something heavy is going to unfold, & it will be far from being pretty.   KEITH

I dont have much of an opinion whether Iraq was justified or not. But if it was, we the free (yeah ok) world could go on and on doing this all over the place. And what will happen afterwards? Are we expected to police the situation and go in again if needed? China seems to be the next big aggressor along with (or am I just thinking of) North Korea. But if they have nuclear weapons are they then untouchable because they might use them? I hope not. If this is the way the world is going then we do need to be united about it and not allow or expect the U.S. to go it alone. Maybe we need to create a race of robots that have the ultimate power to stop aggression wherever it arises. Oh wait that was a film wasn't it.. Tim

$845 billion, actually. Depending on how many "trillions" you were talking about, you're off by at least 100%.
