Run, King, Run!

I played a fun game recently where I made my opponent's king take a nice walk across the board. My most enjoyable king-hunt ever :)

yeah good game... the other day playing a casual game against some guy who thought he was awesome... i made a few mistakes that turned into something awesome... im full on sacrificeahollic (great word) and by the time i had wittled his peices down to a knight, rook and king i only had 7 pawns and a king... to my and his amazement i won with a small force of only 6 queens onto his sole king... it was great... i wouldnt let him resign... too bad a cant remember the moves... i would have put it up to show you...

26 ...Kc7 loses to the line you gave. After 27. e6+ Qd6 then

28. Bxb7 Kxb7

29. Qxd6 Rxd6 and 30. exf7 wins for white

alternatively 28... Qxf4

29. Nxf4 Kxb7

30. exf7 Rf8

31. Nxg6 and 1-0 (connected passers on the kingside)

Don't you just love king-hunts? I've taken advantage of that many times now.

25...Kc4 looks like a better move for Black, i can't see the win after that. Still nice idea with 22 Qh6!

Dozy, your game reminds me the Filip vs Darga game, played in 1961. White gave the Black King a free ride to his own territory and then resigned (Check out "The Hunted Hunter" article). Don't feel bad, it happens to the masters.

I don't want to try to top your story Erik Cool but a couple of days ago I walked my opponent's king from g1 to g6 -- then resigned!

I'd managed to help him get to the only safe square on that side of the board and left him threatening either 32. Rd8# or 32. Qxe6+ with mate to follow.

I'd post the game here but the game-inserter doesn't seem to be working, so here's a link to the game instead:

did you know you were going to win when you start with 21. Rxf6?
