This is the Traxler Gambit, aka the Wilkes-Barre variation, a highly tactical line that has been heavily analysed, see for example http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two_Knights_Defense#4.Ng5. Your "puzzle" is just one of many playable moves for white; 5.d4 and 5.Nxf7 are good as well. By the way, that line is usually played with 5...Ke7 6.Bd5, not 5...Kf8 Bb3.
