OTB tourney (all 5 games)

Submitted by gumpty on Wed, 09/24/2008 at 12:58pm.

Well the weekend before last i played in the Leek Open, near my home town.

I had to play in the top section which meant some tough competition! (i was about to find out it was tougher than i thought!)

the time control was all moves in 120 minutes each.

I only scored 1 out of 5 in this tourn, and i feel really bad about this result!

If anyone can tell me my mistakes/improvements in my game, i would be very grateful!

  1. my 1st round game was against a British Championship Veteran, Oliver Jackson rated 2221 F.I.D.E.

I liked the first, second and third game. But frankly this design of pieces is a torture. classical pieces [staunton style?] are easier on the eyes.

Anyway I didnt know you liked the Larsen variation of the Caro-Kann. Most prefer the Classical 4...Bf5 or Modern [Karpov] 4...Nbd7 move instead of 4...Nf6. Good luck on the next tourney
