okay game finished, i made some mid-game mistakes which he exploited pretty quickly. i resigned after he moved his pawn to threaten my queen. all of my pieces became either strictly defensive (ie. queen defending rook, etc.) or crippled (ie. queen and pawns blocking development of king's knight and bishop).

i learned from this match and that was all i hoped for.

here is how he is connected to morphy:

in 1965, Taylor played in a simultaneous exhibition against GM Arthur Bisguier (1). At New York 1948-49, Bisguier played former world champion Max Euwe (2), who at Pistyan 1922, played German master Siegbert Tarrasch (3), who at Frankfurt 1887 played Louis Paulsen (4), who at New York 1857 played Morphy (5).

Thus his "Morphy Number" is 5!

i have my hands full, but he is 5 degrees of separation from paul morphy so he agreed to play me so i could be 6 degrees!
