The spiritual background of Chess

Chess symbolises of course a painful reflection of the Middle Ages presenting conflicting nations like France and Germany or the Eastern and Western part of the Empire. The Bishop has to look after the flock, but is shamelessly engaged in executing hostile sheep. The pawns are forced to fight and sacrifice themselves for a higher goal which was meant to be spiritual in the Bible. It is an example of how countries can battle each other and a religious Church willingly confirming that battle to be a holy war. Thank God for present theology which make it possible nowadays to expose such false ideas that have wounded the world dramatically? The hurt of those ancient wars are a common argument for atheist believers in our times. Like the ancient player with religious motives was in that time a slave of dominant theology, so the present player can fall of prey to be victim of that same addiction, though luckily in an innocent way… J

The battle belongs to the Lord!

wow...very interesting! Well i agree that the battle is not ours but the Lord's! I mean against who are we really fighting if we fight in this world?

It's important to remember that it's just a theology... or actually a symbolism of a reflection of a social norm regarding a theology..... Nice imagery though. Human motives are always something that others can look at and mention as antithetical of that which God calls humanity towards.
