Walking into a Trap!

Submitted by kenytiger on Sun, 07/13/2008 at 11:20am.

One of the worst types of defensive blunders comes about when a player walks into a trap that has been deliberately set for him. Nothing, in fact, is so conducive to blundering as the belief that your opponent has blundered. Our powerful sense of elation blinds us to the possibility that there is more to the position than meets the eye.

In the following position, White has oblingingly left his Queen on a square where she can be captured. You would expect Black to be more careful, and before going any further, Black takes that juicy Queen, to his sorrow.

I could not expect the 3rd move of the White. Thanks a lot for a new idea. God bless you. Psalm 37:1-6

We all make blunders, otherwise most of the games would be a draw. These are mostly comic seen afterwords, but it happens. Good trap, and it worked.

Doublecheck the move before submit it.

At first glance I expected a windmill. Then I noticed Nxd3 is threatening the bishop so I figured there was more. Nice double check.

White turned off the Black King to g8 with attendance a double check and Rook sacrifice.(3.Rg8+) This move expects of eagle eyes. Black ate the cheese and got checkmate. Thanks for this post Kenytiger!
