Whilst browsing the BBC news site,my husband came across this and asked if it was of interest too me.
A chess set thrown out as rubbish by one of north Wales's biggest landowners could fetch £5,000 for relatives of the butler who saved it from the bonfire.
The set is believed to fetch between £3000 - £5000, roughly $4,524 - $7,540 at Christie's Auction House, London.
The set, made of ivory and bone depicts the French vs the Moors.
The auction house have said that sets from the 18th century are rarely found complete.
More details and photographs can be found on both of these links;

Personally, i'm not sure i'd pay to have this particular chess set .. though its nice to see its history, and the fact its still in good condition for such a rare set.
