hi , people its me ! i1ve been wallowing in the 1400+ range for a while now, i`ve just got two books from library and hopefully i`ll get to study them and improve my game , trouble is that means leaving the boards for a while, and my friends know im rarely off this place , i feel study is the only way im gonna advance .my natural play has got me this far but education in chess is the only way forward .... for the love of the game .. !

I'm the same as you and agree wth you that education can only improve ones game. I too play by instinct (as no doubt do many on this site) & feel there room for improvement, i'd bet most of the top players on chess.com at some stage of their chess career have read a book or two. Why don't you give it a while, watch your rating go up and then let us all know whether or not you think its worked, if it does thats just the kind of kick up the butt i need to get hold of a book. While we're on the subject can anyone recommend a decent chess book that can be understood by mere mortals??
