Papua New Guinea is located on the eastern half of the island of New Guinea. Papua New Guinea became independent in 1975 and is a member of the South Pacific Forum and the Lome Convention, the Melanesian Spearhead Group and more important they are a member from the Commonwealth, on the UN.
