This relatively new website chess.com launched on May 2007 as already established as the biggest chess website online!

It seems to be a bold claim to say chess.com is the biggest chess website online, so let’s analyze.

If you are chess adept you probably already know about the biggest chess sites around, but let me talk to you about those one by one.

To start with the biggest competitor as to be the chess software giant Chessbase, if I would rely only on numbers I would compare the number of visits in both this websites, chess.com as 128.000+ unique daily visits according to the data on compete.com while chessbase.com   as 30.000+ unique visitors per day, also according to compete.com chess.com a grown +31.67% during the last year while chessbase.com as lost -5.67% of its visitors during the same year, this means Chessbase is losing most of its visitors for chess.com

All the data points to chess.com as being the best chess site online, as such that one must be my first recommendation for online chess websites. The other websites I can recommend you was the ones I already talked about:

Chessbase – Despite their giant loss in popularity during the last years the truth is that Chessbase still provides the best online chess server Playchess and, they are the creators and distributors from the best chess game Fritz.

TWIC – The week in chess, every chess lover as to get their free weekly magazine and ad the games they provide to their chess database.

Freechess – Despite graphically being a little inferior to the giant Playchess Freechess.org does provide a stable and free online chess server for everyone to join, play or simple watch other players games.

I left wholesalechess apart on purpose simply because I have had bad experiences with them. Two products (Chess boards) I bought from them got return to them by the mail and they did not resend the package, so beware when buying from wholesalechess.
