The commentators thought Kasparov had the edge, even after Karpov had a few moves that gave him advantage, which he missed. But then Kasparov didn't find moves that made him win either. It's shadenfreuda, but I like seeing super GMs miss moves, it reminds me that the human mind is not a computer and acting super fast is not our MO. again...to be clear, I really like both these players, and I have a growing fondness for Karpov's style, to see him defend relentlessly and take the material offered to him was superb. The whole idea that 'active' pieces are better, does fly in the face of Karpov's style. He sees defence as well as anyone.
