Excellent game, and elegant annotations--minor flaws notwithstanding. Highly educational, too. Thanks a bunch for publishing that!

@Caliphigia: I think black is doing a lot better then a draw in your line! It looks winning to me, the black king is far too active. Good catch. Of course, white doesn't need to play Ka3 though, as ozzie shows.
I love this combination of the connected passers outplaying the protected passer, I have been lucky enough to pull it off myself. K+P endgames for the win!

nice game

@Caliphigia Yes that is an interesting idea. Let's see if I can dig up my "real" notes I made during the game... here they are:
c6 Qd6 Qa6+ Kc7 Qxa5+ Kxc6 Qa6+ Kc5 Qxd6+ Kxd6 f4 f6 fxe5 fxe5 e4! d4 Kc4 Kc6 Kxb4 Kb6 Kc4 Ka5 b3 Kb6 b4 Kc6 a4 Kb6 b5 Ka5 Kb3 Kb6 Kb4 Kb7 a5 Ka7 b6+ Ka6 Kc4 Kb7 Kb5!
So the idea of Kb5 is right, but the execution is incorrect in my annotations, thanks for pointing this out.
Caliphigia
I have found this idea for black after 49...d4
rednikolaou
thanks ozzie that makes sense.
Good Game!
@rednikolaou If you're talking about the final position, it's a win for white. Black must take a lot of time capturing the a-pawn and returning. In the meantime, white wins all 3 of black's remaining pawns. For example:
55.a5 Kc5 56.Kxe4 Kb5 57.Kf5 Kxa5 58.Kg6 Kb5 59.Kxg7 Kc5 60.Kxh6 Kd6 and white will win this endgame.
shouldnt black have stuck it out for the draw? the black king could have got to the Afile pawn before promotion and then lost the R file pawn to the white king.
from there it is 2v2 pawns with the black king having hte disadvantage of being far away.
i prob would have played it out though.

Nice game, Thanks for the annotating.
