A Clean, Well-Lighted Place for Chess

This is a picture of my cozy nook in the chess universe.  It is safe, cool, and comfy here, even on those hot California days.  If you play chess with me, this is where I will be !

Not many people would know what that is.  I love that thing.

I'm guessing some chess players do.  You know, a room with photos of Lasker and Capablanca on the wall, like they do in chess clubs.

In fact, I should start a forum thread that solicits photos of chess dens, just to see what's out there.

Very nice!  I always wanted to dedicate a spot in the house to all things chess.  In the mean time, I guess I will just have to be happy dedicating my PC to all things chess.  Laughing

Hey that looks great. Did you paint that pink set?

No.  I fooled with the saturation of this photo a bit.

Anyway, it's actually the red side of the Hastings red-and-ivory set.  The real red is closer to what I call Alice-Through-the-Looking-glass red.

Bronstein is a player I respect without truly knowing why.  I will try to find this book.

If you really like chess as a beautiful creation, might I suggest the book "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" written by David Bronstein and Tom Furstenberg. D. Bronstein was very possibly the greatest player not to have attained the World Championship. Though he played for it against Botvinnik and tied allowing M. Botvinnik to retain the title [under dubious circumstances, which I will not get into].

It looks really great qixel !! Surprised

I always wanted a chess corner myself, I guess I may get the inspiration again... Laughing

Oh, you must !

It can be a little indoor garden of peace and concentration.  I always imagine myself as Alice Through the Looking-glass while I'm there.
