The 2011 Arimaa World Championship has just concluded, and once again Jean Daligault of France has emerged as the winner.  This is Jean's fourth World Championship crown.

A video with expert audio commentary of the concluding game of the championship can be found here.

The next exciting event in the Arimaa world is the 2011 Challenge Match in which a leading Arimaa engine (in this case bot Marwin) takes on a select 3-person team of top human players.  The Challenge Match will take place between April 4 and April 24, 2011.

Arimaa seems very interesting! I have played a few games now, and it was a lot of fun. It seems harder than chess :)
