Chess? What is it? I don't understand why churches allow Bishops to engage battles over the board.

mmm ain't that what they always did?(the churc/bishops. The crusades ring a bell?) Fight agains't evil etc, but Bishops where not Bishops when it started, probably they where elephants or something like that, but when it arrived in europe in the age of kings :) naval expansion, conquering new lands etc, it got "modernized" so it started to have a King, Queen, The powerful Bishops right next to them advising them on how to battle, the Nights ready to be sacrificed for the greater good, and the rooks to protect the kingdom.
But to answer the question chess is a game so enjoy it as much as you can :)
