Pin Variation Hall of Fame

Submitted by sam_musil on Sat, 06/13/2009 at 11:07pm.

Recently, I have sponsored three thematic tournaments: Sicilian PinSicilian Pin Koch, and Sicilian French Normal.  I currently have 12 wins, 2 defeats, and no draws in the Sicilian Pin Tourney and 11 wins, no defeats, and one draw in the Sicilian Pin Koch Tourney.  I currently have 2 wins and no defeats or draws in the Sicilian French Normal Tourney which started on March 30, 2009.  I have seen enough in these three powerful thematic tourneys to select my Sicilian Pin Hall of Fame players.  My selection is 90% objective based on the composite scoring from the three thematic tourneys and 10% subjective based on my personal evaluation of the strength of each player's game in this difficult variation when facing your humble author!

 Rank     Player              Rating  Result   Score

   1.        lac                   (2760)   21-0-0    21.0

   2.       sam_musil          (2444)   25-2-1    25.5

   3.        Teun                (2380)    22-1-3   22.5

   4.       amarocarabel     (2139)   15-1-5   17.5

   5.       THCCKINGJON    (2073)   14-1-2   15.0

All of these 5 players except me have played in just 2 of the 3 thematic tourneys, but I have many games still underway, so the score comparison is fair.  Only lac and THCCKINGJON have actually defeated me in a Pin game, but amarocarabel has drawn me, and teun and I have not finished even one game!  I will try to update this list again in December, and expand to a top 10.

Congratulations to all players making this list as you have shown significant understanding of the Pin in order to make my list!

Sincerely,  Sam Musil
