Tania-Woman Grand Master & Model

Woman International Master Tania Sachdev, a Delhi literature student today completed her final woman grandmaster norm by scoring fifty percent in the First Saturday Grandmaster Tournament which is in progress at Budapest on Tuesday. Tania who was jointly leading the tournament with three points from five games finished with five points from ten games to pocket her third and final woman grandmaster norm.

Organiser of the tournament, Nagy Laszlo confirmed that Tania Sachdev drew Zdenko Stupavsky of Serbia and made her 10-game woman grandmaster. She has two WGM norms from the Asian Junior Girls Championship in Sri Lanka 2002 and the Abu Dhabi Chess Festival in August 2004.

Tania Sachdev becomes India's eighth woman grand master after S.Vijayalakshmi, Koneru Humpy, S.Meenakshi, Aarthie Ramaswamy, Nisha Mohota, Swati Ghate and Dronavalli Harika.

Tania is the biggest chess talent from north India in women's chess. She missed playing the National women's championship due to her exams clashing with the tournament dates. She had been close to this mark for a long time.

At Budapest, she drew eight games, lost one game and beat Eesha Karavade for this achievement. Achieving the woman grandmaster norm in a 11-player men's grandmaster tournament is quite an achievement.

Tania, 17, born August 20, 1986, sports a rating of 2343. Scoring fifty percent in a tournament with an average rating of 2406 should take her up in the October 2005 rating list.

Firstly, it seems that you copy-pasted your blog-post from http://www.indianchessfed.org/news16.asp

Secondly, it must have been written six years ago since Tania is 23 years old now, not 17 (since she was born in 1986).

According to the FIDE ratings website, she became a Woman Grandmaster in 2005 and an IM in 2008.

In short, your post is a teeny-weeny bit late. Cool
