sirprim's Blog

Hello chessplayers,

In this blog you will find games that i played and my post-game analysis. I don't use computer engines, because it narrows my view on chess in my opinion. So if you are interested in human analysis, this blog might be for you.

Why do i write this blog? I try to improve my chess skill by annotating my own games and trying to find improvements over my and my opponents moves. If you have any thoughts or comments about these games, they are highly appreciated. And if you have some annotated games yourself, feel free to ask me about my opinion and i will help if i can (and have time to).

So hope you enjoy my games and find them helpful to you.

Greetings,

Sebastian (sirprim)

    • Two miniatures

Hello again,   I finally found the time to reduce the number of my games, so that I can annotate more (which will hopefully help me improve). So here are two miniatures from my recent games. In the first one my opponent really underestimated th... | Read More

    • One plan good, one plan bad

Hello everybody,   I am back again with another game of mine. When I was new to chess, I used to play without a concrete plan the most of the time. But this is bad for your chess improvement, so I finally got round to think more about my goals ... | Read More

    • Be aware of the placement of your pieces

Hello,   In my last game, i probably made only one big mistake which was not so easy to make out as one for me for a long time. I was really wondering, where i misplayed, where i left my winning chances, but in retrospect i finally found my mis... | Read More

Hello chess players, today i want to share with you another game against the Sokolsky (1.b4). And like last time (http://blog.chess.com/sirprim/hunting-an-orang-utang) i forced my opponent to play a gambit line which i still think is the main dra... | Read More

    • Hunting an Orang-Utang

Hello again,   today i present you a game against the Orang-Utang opening (1.b4), which is also called the Polish Opening or the Sokolsky Opening. You can defend against this move with many different possibilities, e.g. taking a Kings Indian or... | Read More

    • Losing big time

Hello again,   this time i have annotated a game, in which i find it hard to pinpoint my mistakes. There is no big blunder, it is rather small inaccuracies that add up. I included my thoughts in the annotations, maybe they are helpful to someon... | Read More

    • chess960 sometimes drives me nuts

Hello again,   i recently played a game of chess960 here on chess.com, which was completely crazy. I was totally upset, because i blundered on move 2!! This shows how inexperienced i am with chess960. In chess960 one really has to be aware of e... | Read More

    • Breaking the symmetry

Hello, todays game was played on the live chess server with 15 minutes time control which i am not used to. It does not come surprisingly that i got myself some time mismanagement, luckily an easily repairable one: i used too few time to think in... | Read More

    • Banking on a single error

The next game i finished was an interesting and long struggle. Why? Because it had only one serious error in 50 moves! There are definitely some inaccuracies along the way, but i don't have the skill yet to fully exploit those. This one error prov... | Read More

    • Sticking to basic principles

Just recently i played a game here on chess.com that reinforced my belief in basic principles. As the game left book on move 10 (at least for me), i already equalized but was unfamiliar with the arising position. But nevertheless using basic princ... | Read More
