Hunting an Orang-Utang

Hello again,

today i present you a game against the Orang-Utang opening (1.b4), which is also called the Polish Opening or the Sokolsky Opening. You can defend against this move with many different possibilities, e.g. taking a Kings Indian or Queens Indian Set Up, or you can play the "unique" line, that in my opining is characteristic for the Sokolsky 1.b2 e5 2.Bb2 Bxb4 3.Bxe5 when Black gives up a center pawn for whites b-pawn, but gets very active pieces in return. I haven't seen this structure occur in any other opening so far and it is a good and solid way to meet 1.b4. In this game i chose a rather aggressive set up, aiming directly against 1.b4 and forcing whites hand.

Lets see, if you like it,

Sebastian

You are right, c6 is THE correct answer to b4. Yaz Seirawan and John Donaldson taught me that a long time ago. Great job.

Whenever I play 1.b4 it's just to get black to waste some tempi attacking it, then I just concentrate on the center. I never saw this response from black before, so that's really cool. Smile
