Openings

Recentally I have been looking into openings.  As I did this I began to wonder what the best one was.  Personally, I prefer Nimzo-Larson.

What are peoples favorite/most powerful openings and why do you like them?

I, personally, am a lover of offbeat openings like the King's Gambit or the Smith-Morra Gambit.  I also enjoy very sharp openings, such as the Benoni as Black.  I am an attacker, so these fit my style.  I am also a fan of the Dragon Sicilian.

Yet there is no truly "best" opening per se-it all depends on your study of each opening and how effective they would be from a stylistic point of view.  The openings I listed above are not the openings I believe are the best, but are the best for me from a stylistic viewpoint.  They are sharp and offbeat-perfect for me-and that is what a chessplayer should always look for.  One that fits their style.

Kind regards,

Ethan
