Punishing an Opening Error and Time Management.
In the following game--the second of the tournament I played this past weekend--my opponent made a major opening error on the 5th move. I took my time to calculate the variations as best I could and won in 14 moves. My opponent, who needed excellent defense to survive, used less than 20 of his 120 minutes! There is a lesson in time management here. If you have a chance to win quickly with correct play or if you are likely to lose quickly without super-accurate defense, use your time to find the best moves! See "move list" for comments and variations.
