Attacking Chess - Launching a mating attack

Submitted by steevmartuns on Tue, 03/03/2009 at 6:27pm.

This is blog #2 in my Attacking Chess series, featuring some of my games where I show you how to attack your opponent's position - and YOU get to try and find the winning ideas too!

This game was played in correspondence chess on a regular seek, 3 days per move. Black makes a few errors that weakens his queenside, and by forcing him to give up castling I make a middlegame mating attack. After move 17 ...b5?, try and spot the forced mate for yourself!

Following is the annotated game; please inform me if I missed anything in the analysis.
