studying the opening would probably help me. I guess I when I find an opening I find interesting I will try to use it although I dont fully understand its principles.

Ben made a beginner's type of thinking error earlier. Study helps understand the opening principles and why it is good not to stray from certain lines of play early in the game, especially for Black.
