There's a new tournament for people who get fed up with those who force the official tournaments to drag on for years and years.  This one won't let you join unless you're time/move is under 12 hours, you've played at least 20 games (eliminates newbie prodigies who's ratings aren't yet where they ought to be), and you can't have had any timeouts (hopefully eliminates sand-baggers).  The rating range is 1500-1900.  Vacation is allowed, and it's three days per move, but hopefully it won't last nearly as long as a similar tournament without these restrictions.
