Here is a little collection of puzzles by the #1 Venezuelan player, Eduardo Iturrizaga who is still in his teens!  He owes some of his success to playing chess at ICC http://www.chessclub.com/finger/Iturrizaga .  Eduardo won the Venezuelan Championship in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Wow, some great puzzles from what were probably good games as well.  Man, I love the last one.  No safe squares for the white queen, how cool is that?

"Doesn't 2...Bd7 win the Queen even faster?"

Yes, but is faster better? 2...h5 still wins the Queen after all. I am not sure all the reasons in Inturrizaga's mind, but he still has the bishop aiming at g2 in the 2...h5 variation and has made progress on the kingside with ...h5 by means of a free tempo. This is not a checkmate puzzle where a slower path is pointless. It is simply a material gain, so positional considerations are still going through his head.

"For the "Iturrizaga vs. Villalonga Mairata" match, 4. Qf7# also works, not just 4. Ne6#."

Yep, and 4.Qh8#. I tried both of these moves before the correct move. Good thing they're real-game puzzles.

Dustbowler, it's 2. ... Bd7. To answer your question, I think these problems are based on actual moves during the game, not the best move.
