A Plateau

Well I have reached the 1150-1200 plateau a big thing for me. I feel my game is getting stagnant, and uninventive. I do feel it has improved over the past 6 months, and I have stopped some bad habits. I now feel I need to find a mentor who will work with me patiently over the next few months, someone that has the time to devote to help me improve my game and answer my questions. I am still having trouble annotating my games. I don't feel confident when I do it, like I am knowledgeable enough about the game. I reaaly enjoy playinf g here on chess.com, and am grateful for all the friends I have made. I just need to continue to strive to the next level.

I attempted to learn to play chess by myself, and as far as I got was 1400. It is EXTREMELY difficult to make 1600+ without a coach. It can be done, but it is very hard. When I met my chess coach, I realized that most of my thinking patterns were speculative or ridiculous. I do recommend getting a chess coach, because contact with a stronger player and lessons from a stronger player make a huge difference in your chess playing.

I just keep playing people in my rating and learn from my mistake which I think you would do I take keep playing with you if you want to but has far has me trying to teach you can not help you chess is just a mind game and you have to think way ahead which is something I can not do, I think about two move ahead and that it you can go back into your game that you have lost and study them

That is great news my friend. As for annotating your games, you might want to try something like: "Move 12: Nd4 which forks the my opponent's two bishops." This way you can go back as see what your intentions were at that moment. That is basically what I do for all my games. In my case, it makes for great reading when I completely blunder a strategy I was sure would work (I tend to find humor in some of my ill planned attempts). Again, great news!!
