Another very nice game

You know what? I'm a very impulsive person. Both in chess and in real life. And some times my behvior puts me in trouble. Both in chess and in real life. So I decided to change. Right, both in chess and... Well, I've always been an aggressive player, always thinking in attack and taking defense for granted, I always gave more attention to the study of tactics than to the strategy. Never gave the end game the profound study it deserves, as I'm usually more concerned about short term then long term.

As a first step on the way of being a more balanced player, I decided to play a game in a different style, trying to deffend myself a little bit more rather than attacking like a mad dog... Playing with black I generally would go for the Sicilian against 1. e4, as it gives more chances of counter-attack. This time I decided to try the Caro-Kann, as it has the reputation of being more positional and leads to a good end game.

Well, I never really studied this opening, just knew some moves, but was willing to give it try. Although my opening was a bit confuse and I guess it turned out to transpose in a variation of the French Defense, which I also have never used before, I managed to win the game. I faced an opponent as aggressive as me, and I managed to escape from a very strong attack and beat him using a nice tactical surprise!
