Are chess and music related?

There has often been a correlation between math, musical composition, and chess. Whether it's the way our brains are wired or just a the creativity and dedication makes one good at both it's common. I would love to see a poll to see how many chess players also play music.

    Well, music was the human precursor to the development of language, and languages are all systems of logic.  Chess also is based heavily in logic.  You could say that chess is one of the things where we are using reason to catch up to what we already instinctively know emotionally from music.
