Best move for black?

I have attached a current game I am playing as black, up to an interesting positon on move 28. I took a long time to think about this position, wondering what the correct move would be, given that although I had a reasonable attack going, I was quite vulnerable to the advance of the central pawns.

In the end I went with 28...h5, but a few moves down the line I'm still not sure that was the best choice.

Result still to be decided, no major change in advantage just yet.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

    Thanks for the comments Richard

Looking at the position again now I can't see what all my fuss was about. I did go on to win the game, if you're interested in seeing what happens.

    Hi rduncalfe,

I think your decision to move the pawn to H5 (I'm not really good with chess notation) was the right one as this will put some pressure on his right flank(especially the bishop). You'll need to support the pawn with your rook. You'll be poised for a strong attack on his King and may even be able to check mate him early in the game. Your strongest pieces are all on his king side and you can put him in some real danger.

I wouldn't be too concerned about his central pawns as they are not past pawns.

The option would have been to move your rook to E8. This would have given you a strong defence against his advancing pawn attack. I always feel though that the best defence is a good offence. So, without looking at your game, I would say that your gut instincts were correct.

    Kindest Regards,
