Columbia Gambit

In a recent USCF Tournament Game I essayd the following as Black. 1 e4, d5 2 exd5, c6 ?! . While I realized that essaying a gambit as Black is even more risky than as White, I felt that I had nothing to lose since my opponent was rated approximately 400 points higher than me. I played the game even but could not get compensation for the pawn-which told in the endgame. (54 moves)...

ELLIS GAMBIT,CENTER COUNTER is in the Encyclopedia of Chess Openings. It is played often,by all levels of players,& is an old opening. A monograph of this gambit is on Tripod.com
