Crazy Game

Here is a game I played from the last round of the recent Irish Open Weekender tournament in Dublin. The time control was all moves in 90 minutes with 10 seconds increment each  move from move 1.

I think this game goes to show that no matter how well you know an opening you should still take the time to think about the position.

Hope you liked it and I welcome any comments.

Nice game, you had him throughout the game, but I dont think b6 was good though, as its only usually played in the "Quiet" variation of the Slav when black plays a6 and you play c5 to clamp the queenside, and he cant play b6.

You where much better after 11.bxc5? from Black, as you had a nice open file for your Queen and there wasnt as much tension in the centre as there was. Nice game, you hammered him :D

Thanks, ya Bf5 is common after d4 d5 c4 c6 Nf3 Nf6 Nc3 dxc4 a4, but not on move 3 and not in the semi-slav which is what he played. Probably a5 immediately would have been better and ya taking was bad as it left his c6 pawn too weak.

I thought Bf5 was common in the slav? After you play c5 I think he has to play a5 really. Then even after he played a5 and you played a3 he shouldnt take the pawn, he should keep some tension in the position and wait for the right moment to take. bxc5 was bad by him aswell. The he just started playing too passively and you finished him off well. Well done, very well played.

Ya, it was a strange opening by him, although I don't think c5 is common from white in the slav either.

Strange opening game for sure (on his part). I like how you included what you were both doing in terms of time usage. Well played =)
