Endgames- King and Pawn vs. King

Here are a few diagrams to follow along with.

When working with endgames involving King and pawn vs. king, it all depends on whether your king can force his king aside (opposition).

In the first example, try your hardest. No matter what, it is a draw. This is because the

re are a couple rules to follow when defending.

The first is that when pushed back, step straight back so that he can't push you away from the front of his pawn. Playing incorrectly can lead to a new queen; and the game.

In the second diagram, you are the defender. See if you can force a draw.

Remember, just step straight back and you'll be fine.
