Favorite chess player- yer ma. Na, only joking. I had not really played chess until 2002/3. Obviously, I had nobody to play against, but the desire was strong. I didn't consider a club because I was pretty much right at the begining-thought I'd be a pain rather than a joy for the regulars.

So, what to do. Play a computer of course. Hmmm, didn't have a computer or any doe-ray-me to get one. So, I shelled out a massive 20 pounds sterling on one of the eletronic chess machines.

One of the features that it had was a wopping 20 game database!!! For the first time in my life I played out a GM's game. It had this cool little combo at the end, the likes I'd never even knew happened (aye, remember I was a greenhorn). Turns out that game was played by no other than Mr Jose Raul Capablanca.

So, my favorite player is Mikhail Tal
