During last 3 weeks we've been observing the impact of FIFA World Cup on Chess.com and especially on Live Chess traffic. From the very first day of the tournament we could see odd fluctuations of Live Chess traffic and at the beginning we spent some time analyzing our server logs and reports to check what's going on! Fortunately, nothing is wrong :). In normal Live Chess peak time people just leave to watch a match (some of them come back during a break to play a blitz or two ;) ). Yesterday, it all came back to what we are used to see. Reason: no World Cup match till Friday ;).

EDIT:

Now, back to normal FIFA World Cup shape :).

I pray Spain beat the Netherlands, the only team of dirty divers that made it far this tournament.

I agree completely. Mygames were before and after FIFA matches. I lost when my favorite teams lost too :-(

With Kolejorz winning the Polish Championship this year, things must be exciting soccer-wise in Poznan...

Well, if most people were to be like me, football would be a game in risks of extinction, as i have never ever been a big fan of footbal; Apart from the national team mAJOR(lol) GAMES( if its a really important decisive one...THEN and ONLY THEN ill watch !), never really waste time with it !! Give me a footbal, and the story will change; but cant affor to waste time watching it, though ! All my life i said-Chess is my favourite sport( ill say the same thing about arts, about science, and about leisure/entertaining/board games, though lol lol eh eh middle name is Chesster ! lol).

Anyway, theres no other website on the net as CHESS.COM- And thats a fact !

So, it's only a shame that the game server isnt better than it actually is at the moment( crashes quite often...Like every 5 minutes, or at least stutters in a way that makes you lose game after game, and with it rating points ! Thats the only reason why i dont play here, and allowed my brother and friends to play in my name, not worrying at all about my "live chess rating", being the online chess rating the only REAL ONE, in this website( as stated in my profile- Just because you can not really put effort into it, when all goes down the drain in a couple of games, after you  re-gained them points...).

So, the game server would be an asset to the whole package, i'd guess ( JUST MY HONEST HUMBLE OPINION?!?!  No diss intended), cuz at the end of the day, I LOVE THIS WEBSITE, and its community, hard to compare out there !. That would definetly bring it closer to "perfection" as a "COMPLETE PACKAGE OF CHESS" (meaning it includes instruction and training "deals" included in memberships...No doubt a must for those  whom these features might be applicable: and thats a big percentage of the users out there, mind !

Specially youngsters in ongoing scholastic training, it seems to be quite atractive for them( layout, spirit of the community, kind and ways of instruction and training methods, software, etc, etc etc)
