Just had some fun going through old chess notebooks. Fun that ended in regret a bit
when I found a somewhat well-played game between myself as a 12-year old beating a guy that now has a FIDE rating of 2282. The fact that I won that game makes me think that something went wrong for me along the way! At the time I was playing for a very active youth team with 4 very enthusiastic U-12 players. We all got offered training by our national chess association, yet none of us registered. That may explain why I could not trace any of my old team mates on the FIDE rating list...
For some reason I remember the day this was played very well. From driving to the championships with our youth coach in a silver grey Datsun Sunny, to the guys in my team, and to the little party with free coca-cola afterwards
. You'll find the game below, a typical "youth" game, but not one that I am afraid to show. At least I got my first move 1... e4 right!
Not a game to show off with, just a post to remember some fun old days!
