Fourth Round Against a Grandmaster

Hi again! In my latest game last night, I had to face a strong Grandmaster who was rated 2518. It was truly a high-class game, which ended in a draw. Check out the interesting fight!

I currently keep a good result of 3.5 points out of 4 games, having an even more important game against another GM tomorrow!

dxe5 is good -- it puts black's king, and thus, position, into a little bit of awkwardness. However, first off that awkwardness is rather slight; second, white releases a lot of tension, and thus potential, out of his position by at least allowing black to equalize in the center and trade off the scary queens.

On the other hand, dxe5 can be attractive because although Nf3 keeps more tension in the position, the advantages of white's position then are also less tangible than after dxe5.

hmm...i think 4.Nf3 can be replaced by a better one like 4.dxe5 ...what do u say guys????????

I started playing at a local club and although the level here isn't close to the level's you face the mentality and principle are the same.  I believe older folks look at us as young and have a defenite belief that they can win no matter what even if they blunder.  Many instances they carry on a game with me even though they're in definite disadvantage such as a missing knight, sometimes missing rook and even worst missing queen or other very difficult positions.  They continue games that they wouldn't continue against each other the only reason because I'm young and they can't stand me winning.  In the beginning when they would do this it would make me angry and sometimes I would lose games out of anger but with time I learned to turn the tables on them and now I do the same thing.  Usually I'll sacrifice a rook for a knight early in the game and the preassure is on them.  They will wait for me to resign but I never do and almost always end up winning.  Anyways what I'm trying to point at is that these guys no matter how many times in a row I beat them they still think they're better than me and so I think it is in your case too when u face GM's.  They have a belief that they can beat you something you lack towards them.  But remember GM is just a title nothing more.  It doesn't mean that because they're GM they have to win.  I'm writing all this because I've seen you play bullet online and you're a very gifted player and this game you had found all the best moves so I was very surprised to see you had offered draw.  Next time push for win against anybody nomater what their title even though you might be in a worst position.  I'm sure this will help you

Good game. 13 is a lucky number. Good luck against other GMs.

Nonetheless, despite the release of tension with the queen exchanges, I still think it grants a small edge.

    4. dxe5 would lead to a queen trade that would just help black since the queens are off the board. Black's king would not be in danger because he could always play moves like c6 and place the king on c7. That is what I think.

A strong GM is rated 100 points higher. 2518 is quite normal for a GM. I think you meant to say "a strong player who is a GM".

After seeing post-game computer analysis, would you still offer the draw, or did you find any moves that lead to a clearer advantage?

Unusual to see only 2 pieces off the board after 22.5 moves....

Nice tournament!   6.5 points and 11th place ahead of quite a few GMs.

    Bravo!
