Freedom vs Liberty

People have things a little mixed up... Freedom is the ability to make choices, Liberty is the right to make right choices.  Unless we can educate people to make right choices, how will they know the difference.

Who is to say what the right choices are? We daily make decisions based on emotions and half truths and inaccurate data. What I have experienced in my lifetime is unique to myself as is true of all of us. Everyone should be free to decide for themselves what is right and what is true. The only restriction should be that others have the same right, and no one (except in the case of self defense) should intentional do harm to others. There are of course relationships (such as parent to young child) where a certain degree of control is neccesary, but even then mutual respect should be shown (by both sides). Part of our freedom is the freedom to make mistakes.

I'm often confused about what the right choices are. And sometimes, even when I know I ought to choose correctly, I find I don't have the willpower to (ie, smoking/drinking). I know the choices I am making some times are wrong, but I cannot seem to stop... I'm not sure education alone is enough... unless you mean education in a wider context? I'm curious.
