"Getting to know OTHER chess partners.

October 10, 2007

Hello;

I would like to get to know some "Human" players for a change. Like I said before, I am beating "My little Chess partner".. SIX out of SIX games. That is "after" playing him for several years.

KASPAROV... are you there? My phone: 701-213-4250... My address: 512 N. Hannifin St., #4, Bismarck, 58501

Don't get me wrong. Playing "against" a computer is O.K. BUT... they do HAVE their LIMITATIONS. For instance.. ONCE you can break the computer's CHESS CODE.. WALA!  you got him!

By this, I mean, the STYLE in which the computer plays. Like, when I play against "My little Chess Patner"... I can ALMOST predict WHICH move he's going to make. And of course.. I "get ready" to "counter" this computer's NEXT move, and I usually beat him... NOT all of the time... JUST most of the time. Like SIX out of EIGHT games.

Remember, playing against the computer DOES HAVE it's LIMITATIONS. Lately, I've been observing some DUMB moves by my "little chess partner".

I hope I can SOMEDAY .... try to play... BIG BLUE.

Just a thought.

    Hello;

    Well Alvin, in answer to your comment about playing chess again the computer, I never found it boring. However, after a playing the computer for a while, you get the sense that you ALMOST know what the computer's NEXT move is going to be. This is what I mean about being able to break the Computer's Code.

    However, playing against a human, it's slightly diferent. Depending on the STRENGTH of your opponent, ANYTHING can happen... and it usually DOES. In my lifetime, I have played against players I could NEVER beat.

    However, playing against the computer has given me a much wider experience. Remember, the compter is NOT a pushover. At the beginning, when I started playing against the computer.... I could ONLY win maybe one in fifty games.

    NOW... I am WINNING most of the games... against the computer. And it  couldn't be THAT boring... because I ALSO LOSE against the computer, a.k.a. "My little Chess Partner" from Chess.Com

    When playing... I have ONE weakness. I USUALLY forget about my oponents INTENTIONS against me, without ANALIZING the bigger picture. In chess, there is what is known as a GAMBIT. Your opponent will stick his neck out by WILLING to LOSE a valuable piece... in EXCHANGE for a better POSITIONAL ADVANTAGE, or for a QUICK MATE.

    Chess is really an immitation of life as we live it. We have CHOICES. We make those CHOICES, make our MOVE, and we suffer the CONSEQUENCES, WIN or LOSE.

    Nobody can argue that point.

    Let's hear more from everyone's POINT of VIEW.

    Thanks,

    i noticed the same thing w/ChessMaster 2000 a decade or so ago; not only that, but it also cheated. after becoming puzzled by a few inexplicable moves i let it play itself overnight- i awoke to find 7 queens on the board (ChessMaster did replace the software after i sent them a copy of the game)! anyway, play me- i think i may be less predictable. as an aside, let me state that playing computers is fine for working on openings, but otherwise i found it boreing, i.e., there's no satisfaction, adrenaline-wise, in beating an inanimate object.
