Right now I'm analying the De Labourdonnais - McDonnell Match

Game 1 I came up with a interesting Puzzle. (blog)

Game 2 The Blockade Strategy was invoke by McDonnell. (Forum "The Blockade")

Game 3 McDonnell gets creative with Berserking pawns. (Forum "Beware of the Berserker")

Game 4 The first Win of the Match. The mating sequence was use in a Chess Mentor lesson.

What does game 5 have in store... I never had must appreciation for classic games and especially did not give credit to McDonnell Middlegame strength. Since De Labourdonnais won the match I did not think he face that hard of opposition but going over the games has proved most enlighting and how strong 19th century players were.   I think De Labourdonnais got very lucky in alot of his games due to McDonnell lack of endgame knowledge so it proves to be good at all aspects of the game.
