I know people play it to prevent Bg5, but most of the time the bishop pin doesn't do much anyway!

I think the move h6 is to avoid the pin on g5..

Further, don't woory to much about those mistakes in blitz games, as long as you see them in normal games that's okay (unless there was a large time spam).
