Nah, it's used by masters and even super-GMs on occasion... and its theoretical evaluation is not too important if you don't know the theory.

2...Bc5?! - I know this line appears in lots of books, but it's not the mainline. White could have followed-up with 3.Nf3 Nc6. The point is White reached an Italian Game without risking Black playing a drawish Petroff. An accelerated Evan's Gambit with 3.b4!? is also a dangerous possibility. 3.Qf3? - Of course, this is rubbish. Well done.
