I was fortunate enough to be able to participate in National High School Chess Championships in Nashville, Tennessee last weekend, and I thought I'd share my games here. I only played in the U1600 section, since my team wasn't very highly rated, and we wanted to be together.
In the first round, I played a pretty small girl, but she played well. I managed to win a pawn but took a long time to convert the advantage.
My second round game was definitely my worst, and my only loss. 20. Bd3? Was a huge mistake, and one that I'm not really sure why I made. I could see 7 or 8 moves down the line from that move, yet I still made it, apparently hoping that my opponent would miss the tactics. Bad move, self.
In the third round I quickly won a piece in my favorite opening, only to blunder it away a few moves later.
My next game was definitely my easiest of the tournament, against a very weak 1300. Not a lot of difficulty in this one, and it was also very quick.
