No Chess in NYC

Sunday turned out to be a bust for chess. They were filming a movie in and around Bryant Park most of the day. On the way to work I got detoured out of my way,checking at lunch they were in the park displacing most of the boards. Late afternoon when work was finished the film presence was more limited but the disruption was already complete. A few games were going on but it was scattered and of lesser interest.
Where is the priority? Chess shouldn't have to give way for some film that will probably go straight to DVD
