Pawn takes White Queen - twice!

Submitted by Rael on Wed, 02/20/2008 at 8:09am.

Both of these games were played against the same person - one of my dearest rivals on the site. She and I both have a competitive streak, and ever since I once declared her my "nemesis" I've found that I invest an extra attentiveness to our games. She's particularily deadly with her Queen, I've found, and absolutely dominates the board with swift Queen maneuvers if you let her.

I'm proud of the following two games (which were played in succession) because in both I was able to capture her Queen with one of my pawns! - which has to be something of a rarity.

I do wish that these games could be displayed from "my" side of the board, but oh well (UPDATE: I figured out how). Oh, and you'll notice that in both instances the Queen capture was made possible by a dubious King move. Enjoy!

Interesting games.  I'm like quite the opposite of her.  I'm not particularly offensive with my queen unless I need to be or I see an absolute advantage in doing so.  (Take a look at some of my games if you want to see what I mean...)  Also, I'm sure you can choose the 'flip board' option when creating the board image.

Your friend really needs to stop moving her Knights to the a/h files.  It gives the opponant complete control of the middle of the board.

Nice games, especially #1.  18 ...Nxf3+!! won the game.  If instead 19. Ke1 than Nd4+ captures the queen anyway.
