Playing Guilty

Yesterday, Oakcrest chess team defeated Burlington chess team.  I was board 5 Varsity.  I played against a JV member that had been moved up because their board 3 couldn't make the match.

I remember doing well in the beginning and being a bishop ahead already.  I felt guilty while playing.  I went a little easy and made some mistakes that i overlooked but he didn't see them....  -__-'  i ended up just playing seriously toward the end, though it appeared not to be...  (to Oakcrest chess team that was looking at the match, you know what i'm talking about...  ^_^')

Has anyone here ever played someone and felt so guilty that they kinda just let go a little during the match before actually playing seriously again?  Does anyone have any tips on playing all out regardless?  ^_^'  I can't seem to do that yet....

haha that usually doesnt happen at higher boards, but i usually try to avoid pitying ppl @.@; when u do that, u get a bad game, and both sides r kinda upset =/

when the person i'm playing against doesnt take me seriously just cause they pity me r something, i get kinda mad xP it feels like their not playing me seriously so  yeah

after a while u'll get used to it =] r just dont ask about their situation xD

there was nothing wrong with your match yesterday. you felt bad for him but he might have wanted you to not play serious because he wanted to win with out trying. but you still won and thats all that matters because i was watching your match and you could have won five moves before you did, but i thought you we're feeling bad for him or just liked playing him.Cool
