Progress

Haven't posted in a while, I hope the holidays were good for everyone.  I received a nice chess set as a gift from my fiance which gave me the chance to play many OTB games while on vacation against a friend I've only played online.

I finished a set of lessons from chess.com user kcbishop (i would add a link but that doesn't appear to work in safari)  which helped me out a lot.  I'm playing better than ever now,  I feel like I'm winning about half my games these days, compared to how I was playing, it's a vast improvement.

Below is a game I just finished.  I took an early lead but managed to slip and lose it.  I was tempted to offer a draw, but I'm glad I stayed with it.

First of all thanks for the compliments,  after feeling like I would never improve, It's nice to finally win a game here and there.

The game with Chris actually ended on time.  I assumed it was because of the holidays.

Hi Rob, hope you are doing well.  Haven't seen you around lately until I was checking out Chris Martin's profile.  The first thing I noticed was that his rating had dropped so naturally I decided to see who had beaten him.  Haven't analyzed that game but I have gone thru the above beauty.  Nice work.  A huge improvement is immediately noticed in your opening.  I also noticed a consistent exercise in patience.  As you well know I'm definitely not qualified to critique anyone's play but also have never been shy about pointing out the obvious.  Seems your time and money with kcbishop was time and money well spent.  I have checked out his site and may see if he has time to beat some chess savvy into my head.  I've been studying with chess mentor and at times feel as though I'm playing a little better.  Chess more and more reminds me of my golf game, ie when I'm hot it is only for brief periods and when I'm not it seems to last forever.      Any way was going to tell you that I've never met Chris in person but I work with his grandmother and have played some games with him.  In fact we have one in progress.   Expect him to be really good one day so figure I had better get my licks in while I can.   Our first couple of games I offered what little advice I was able and was impressed by how well he picks up things by both listening and observing.   Anyway, drop me a line sometime and give me some info on your coach.   I like what I see.
