"Is it too late to learn Chess?"

November 12, 2011 @ 1:07p.m.

Hello friends;

I have recently started playing Chess.....to keep my mind active..."A healthy mind in a healthy body."....as they say.

I am seventy-six years old.....but really....I DON'T FEEL IT. That picture is the most recent. I feel young.....maybe even young for Chess. But, I have to keep playing...."to keep in touch with my mind's Chronology."

I practice a lot, playing Chess against my Computer...so far...I'm hitting 28% WINS.....not good...NOT even for me. So...I keep practicing...and LEARNING.

Remember this: We are learning EVERYDAY...."if we keep at it." It's NEVER too late to learn how to play Chess.

Thanks people.

    Age is no barrier to this kind of chess its only the heavy serious tournament types who feel the pace. Enjoy it and don't let it dominate your activities.

    Hi Ralph.

    I checked your bio. and I'll be 74 next month. I come here to chess.com to read games, comments and blogs. I only have played 7 games here. I hope you do more to keep your body active.

    I know your mind thinks that only your body is old and that is what my mind thinks also.

    I bowl in four leagues every week. I teach chess at the library every Wednesday and bowling on Saturday to many jr. bowlers.

    I take several classes at the Jr. College and I walk a lot.

    You are right that it is never too old to learn chess or most anything.
