If I play someone of about the same strength, the contest is exciting.  If I play someone stronger than me, I like to see the story of the successful plan develop--or if I'm lucky the adrenalin rush of winning despite the odds.  When I play someone weaker I'm amazed to see mating patterns I have long seen in problem books actually develop.  There is really no way you can go wrong.
