Round 2 - FIDE Amateur Championship

Well, I got my first FIDE victory in round 2.  My opponent looked to be 15 or 16.  He was from Russia with a FIDE rating of 1808.  My first round loss was to a FIDE 1779.  Although there was a language barrier, we were able to do some post game analysis.  I think the game speaks for itself, although I think that my opponent could have put up a better defense ... he seemed to move very fast when my attack got going.

    Thank you laaqer!

Yes I saw that combination during the game.  My opponent almost played 11.Bxg4 ... his hand hovered over the Bishop a couple of times.

very nice attacking game in a good style :)

i wonder if you've seen all the forcing mate after 10. Bxg4 ?

for me it's more a feeling that it should be a mate, than confidence.

    10. Bxg4, Nb4

    11. Kc4, Qc5

    12. Kb3  (seems to me the only acceptable line after white takes the bishop)

and some complications may appear next, white have extra move before the next check to defend king or make a defensive exchange.

    gl in tourney!
